On digging deeper I found there is some useful looking documentation. I think it's just the presentation that is leading people to ask "Is Capistrano still being maintained<http://serverfault.com/questions/261059/is-capistrano-still-maintained> ".
The answer of course is a resounding YES thanks to the efforts of Lee over the past couple of years. The most recent version has had >24K downloads. Capistrano is still a great tool.
