Really late on this but I've rewritten my npm and Composer gems for Cap v3.
https://github.com/roots/capistrano-composer/tree/v3 https://github.com/roots/capistrano-npm/tree/v3 Both very simple and based off of the official Bundler extension. I'd be happy to put these under the Capistrano org. Just let met know what needs to happen.
