I found:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/21560297/capistrano-sshauthenticationfailed-not-prompting-for-password
and switched back to net-ssh 2.7.0 and net-ssh-gateway 1.2.0 - still got the
above error
passwordless ssh from the console is fine, other apps deploy without a
problem.. and I couldn't spot any differences
