IMO, the file extension should identify the specific type, such that it can
be used to figure out what application can open the file. I don't think
it's particularly useful to give a file an extension that indicates "Cap'n
Proto encoding" without also indicating the specific type. (I have the same
opinion about Protocol Buffers.)
