I have nearly the same (this is on Ubuntu 7.10 with almost the latest patches).

$ java -version
java version "1.6.0_03"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_03-b05)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.6.0_03-b05, mixed mode, sharing)

$ javac -version
javac 1.6.0_03

Want to sling me a copy of your release zip file? I can try it out
here and see if I'm getting the same fault.
