As we know, Carbon is deprecated, won't be 64-bit, write it in Cocoa etc. Also, there are many blissfully unaware end users running Carbon apps. Plus Apple continues to include the Carbon framework( in the OS X revs ) that allows all those Carbon apps to run.
What I'm wondering is: Will Apple notify the general users of a pending removal of Carbon runtime support( thus killing their Carbon apps )? The suggestion to rewrite apps in Cocoa works for developers but not for end users who might depend on an app continuing to run. The average user understood Rosetta and the PPC to Intel switch requiring new apps but Carbon needs are different. Of course, the assumption Apple will remove Carbon might be flawed.
