+1. It is not only these constants, but many other classes and methods with
dead code. And, these deprecations were announced for the last major
release.

When we began the round of refactoring, we were quite close to the tentative
release dates, and these constants were used throughout our code. So, to not
break things, we decided to deprecate them and remove these for the upcoming
major release, giving enough time for all developers to fix their code.

Also, IMHO, now that the code is getting more and more stabilized, we seem
to need a solid deprecation policy, that consists of a few simple best
practices. [1] is an example. WDYT?
