IMHO, this seems to be a small detail that people will ever really care about, and we have actually been pretty careful to retain the backward compatibility with the new versions - doesn't seem worth it to support two versions of the language and then the question of when do we actually drop older support?. And I've actually seen users appreciating the fact that older data services just work in a new data services server release.
