IMHO, we should be able to encrypt content as well as property values, the rest of the metadata can be in plain text. We also need to design a filter which will be used to determine what resources need encryption/decryption. So, let's have a chat on this sometime during this week. Also, long-term, we need to create a generic set of utilities which can be used to interact with SCM tools. Ex:- Handler which makes it possible to store and fetch content from SVN while maintaining metadata inside the repository. Will be done later though. So, how about a new bundle under the registry component, org.wso2.carbon.registry.utils to contain such utilities?
