We block the Carbon UI from the user when a dialog such as an error message
is displayed. This is done by putting a partially opaque layer in top of the
Console.

You can use CARBON.showPopupDialog before sending the request, and display a
message on it. But this popup message will not give the perfect look and
feeling for the situation. I can provide a customized method with a
different look and feeling if it's a possibility.

thanks,
Chanaka
