I'm a newcomer to Carbon Emacs (and longtime user of emacs). I recently installed the Summer 2007 beta, and found that a feature I like isn't working anymore.
Namely: in the immediately preceding version, it was possible to run $ /Applications/Emacs.app/Contents/MacOS/bin/emacs as a shell command, which produced a classic terminal emacs session. I find this usage very valuable for quick edits. In the Summer 2007 package, this no longer works. It does pop up an emacs terminal session in the shell window, but accompanied with a slew of error messages on startup that render it unusable. I would appreciate seeing this come back! (Note: I realize that I can install the fink emacs package or whatnot, but I found it very convenient to have a single, consistent, installation of emacs both for GUI and terminal usage, without having to fiddle with different, possibly incompatible, elisp trees and the like.) Otherwise, thanks for a great product! --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ "Carbon Emacs" group mailing list.
