There are a few options:
• you could type C-x 5 2 to create a new frame
• you could use Aquamacs Emacs, that drives this to some extreme
• you could also use session.el and desktop.el, but this won't
help with F10
Possibly it's also better to launch Carbon Emacs the old-fashioned
way with double-clicking or open applied on the application bundle,
not its kernel. This introduces some Mac OS X session management.
