That's a rather ridiculous proposition.
Printing via htmlize is a workaround that will hopefully not make it into Emacs. The right way to do it would be to print via the display engine on the C level.

Do htmlize.el, mac-print-mode.el and Coral work on the Cocoa port, too?

Haven't tried, but technically they should work out-of-the-box.
