I downloaded Echolink and successfully used it while trying a simple
connection, my cable modem hooked directly to my desktop's ethernet
port. I connected to AA2AD-L.

Then I hooked my home network back up up to my new cable modem and
have not been able to connect to any Echolink stations. I assume
that this is because I have now introduced a Linksys BEFSR41 router
in to the equation. Apparently just going straight to the cable
modem requires no forwarding of ports but when using a router the
ports need to be configured.

I configured the Linksys router to forward the ports required for
Echolink but still no luck (other services requiring port
forwarding, like Telnet by other in to my own DX Cluster, are also
not working).

I read on an Echolink forum that one needs to set up a static IP
address for the Echolink port forwarding to work. I am not sure what
is meant by that. My cable ISP assigns IP addresses dynamically. I
DID set up an IP addresss within the Linksys router for Echolink
port forwarding to 192.168.1.10 using "BOTH" for the type of service.

Anyone know what stupid mistake I am making?
