I connected the cable box to a different TV and the problem was not replicated but I eventually found the cause of the problem and eliminated it.  The hum was related to a S-Video cable that was connected to an input on the TV but was disconnected at the other end.  Removing the S-video cable got rid of the hum.  No hum occurred when connecting video/audio from a dish receiver or a DVD player, just the cable box that did not like the S-Video cable.       Andy K3UK http://www.myspace.com/k3uk     ----- Original Message ----- From: Peter Albright To: carcomm@yahoogroups.com Sent: Monday, September 04, 2006 9:12 AM Subject: RE: [CARC] Audio on a video-in plug? Some video equipment will automatically drop everything upon loss of video and blank the screen. If you are hearing a raspy buzz it could be that the video level is too high. Does this happen when the picture has a lot of bright background in it? If so, there's too much video level for some reason.
