A few thoughts::The reality is that in order to build these systems. We need either government or institutional funding. Any ideas?

~ natural selection can often be uncomfortable and in some cases extremely painful (when you don't survive)... but for it to be more intelligent you need open critical peer review
~ pooling resources often means pooling politics...which increases both the risk of failure and drift from the original objectives
~ "government and institutional".... Tim you have been in Canada too long ... :-).... there a tons of sources if you take a problem focused approach rather than a technical one
