Hello all,

At the suggestion of Tim (TORCH), and after buy in from David (OpenEMR)
and considering Jeffs(FreeMED) willingness to head up the migration, it
is apparant that the right way to handle FreeB to PM interaction is
using a monolithic XML file, while using XML-RPC for communication and
error handling.

The current API will stay in place until the next one is ready.

Co-opting the OMBS standard has been suggested, and is a good idea.
However it is a poltical decision mostly based on things irrelivant to
the implementation.

For now, the XML DTD we will be developing will simply be the "FreeB
DTD". We will work out the political details with OMBS once we have a
grasp on what is needed from a technology standpoint. Hopefully we may
be able to merge with that standard.

Do we have any DTD experts that would be willing to help Jeff develop a
*billing* XML standard?

Thanks,
Fred Trotter

1) An existing format to extend, with permission. I would love to co-opt the OMBS format, but I do *NOT* want a "fork" being the version neccessary to run FreeB. Permission is required.

        2) Suggestions on fields required by other formats. There are
many X12 variations, so I'd like to know what we need to
           generate in the XML format.

        3) Someone willing to help sketch out the DTD and provide some
examples for people looking to try to implement the format.
