I hope that no project would be realling dying, but it is true that many Open Source project have difficult to live, including my own local projects.
I would like to analyse why such situations occur.
One kind of "one-man-band" may come from the ego of the local doctors, not willing to listen to anybody else.
An another kind of "one-man-band" from the technical people, not liking to use methods they did not invent themselve.
I am preparing a document for the healthcare session during the " Libre Software Meeting ", at Dijon / France on 5-9 July.
Honestly I would have a little difficult to explain clearly why I am currently not implementing Care2X.
Well, I feel I am missing some aspects, which in my view should be mandatory, e.g. about integration, while my software has a lot of other shortcomings and no time to fix all the problems.
The big issues of Open Source is to understand each other and to find solutions to reuse at least some common software components.
Of course different users in different regions may have here and there, some different requirements.
OK but we have then to document all the points where variant are justified. When meaningful they must be accepted and treated as options.
Who is coming to Dijon with proposal of solutions ?

The Care2x project is dying. Its parts, like diseased organs are starting to shut themselves down... Time for a fork perhaps? :-)
No kidding. Those are the problems of "one-man-band" projects. When that one man is not able (or do not want) to keep going, all the rest starts to fall apart.
Of course, I could say that I saw it coming... and I could add that, at the time, nobody cared and just thought that the world was perfect as it was... But I will not say that.
But you can bet in a fork if the need arises!
Just stay tuned to Book on Software at the www.e-HealthExpert.org site... And you may always apply for an account at that site too.
