Hi Joe,

I will outline the mechanics soon. But roughly described: the release will not only do the release administration but will be the one to create the next release version and will have much freedom to decide what should be incorporated or not (from the current patches and modules/hacks available from the different sources and cvs branches or his own development). He will be given a project manager status and project release rights at sf.net He will have 6 months for this within which he might need 2-3 months creating a pre-release version, another 1-2 months for the testing group to approve or suggest corrections/omissions and the final month to make the release.

The testing group has also a voice to approve or disapprove a pre-release package by majority vote. If a package is disapproved, the current manager has two options, either to redevelop the package or
to hand over the task to somebody else.

If in case he cannot make it within 6 months, the task will be transferred to another volunteer
manager and the cycle repeats until we get a release.

The most ideal manager is one who has experience in developing release versions and making releases at sf.net. Of course that is ideal. But anybody who has the determination (and time, time
time) can do it also with the same good results.

The one who successfully makes the release will be given the credit of choosing an extra suffix tag for the release version (after the release number). He might even choose to append his name to it like for example
Care2x version 2.2.0 - Mario Ferrari (if he chooses so).
Just avoid very long and difficult names please :)

I will make a more formal document for this soon.

Regards,
Elpidio

Elpidio,
Let me know exactly what this would entail. Joe
