Care2x is the best OSS, that I ever met and I really appreciate all of you who developed and also the supporters.
Actually, I am not a doctor. I am not quite familiar with medical terms and hospitals. But I work for Ministry of Health.
I tried care2x to be the right solution for their requirements and I customized based on their requirements.
Then, I want to share my experience with the things that I currently facing.
During this month, I set up a customized demo version of care2x. That is the most crowed hospital that I ever seen, and it is situated in the middle part of Sri Lanka Island.
Those are my experiences and problems :
1. The operators are average at the age of 45-50. It means they are not willing to learn on computer(expecting the cannot type well). Then, I reduced the data entry part for them as much as possible to make it simple. It will help them not to key in much and only with few mouse click.
2. Every department cannot be use the computer on real time basic. So, I introduced only the registration and admission part to use in real time. The rest of the things will be doing in the evening in "Batch Mode" by 2 or 3 operators.
Care2x system has a very good work flow but we can't afford to set up computers on each and every department to make it fully utilize care2x.
3. Hospitals use pre printed forms and I have to adjust the printing area on those forms. It takes a lot of times, but it saves money.
4. Monthly reports and yearly analysis. I am still doing those things and I am trying to be flexible for users to generate reports.
5. The users suggest, they want a fewer click to key in in most effective way. Actually, they are doing batch mode data entry and they don't need to be logically separated by different forms. If possible they want to use just only single form to key in different information by different departments. I proposed some possible ways to do those things in efficient manner. But we are still far for agreements. It becomes a big problem with me to make it batch data entry mode. But I have no choice !
6. I need to install on Mysql 4.1 or higer to be compatible with other systems. But care2x only support 4.0. Is there any solution for that to upgrade higher version of Mysql and also to use higher version adodb(data layer).
I will try my best on care2x to use in Sri Lanka Island wide. I will let you know, my updates frequently and please suggest some ideas.
