Hi, We have been thinking about a simple setup in small dispensaries and health centers, where they have computer or few of them. Also in rural setting the hardware failure may interrupt the service for long time without a simple solution. I have been using Minixampp system for a couple of years and often copy the whole folder from computer to computer and it has been working so far.
I had a presentation on Care2x in a national meeting and copied Minixampp to external harddrive and run minixampp setup command, because the drive is different. It worked fine. So it seems that the simplest system is to distribute Care2x on external harddrive and plug it into USB port of any Windows computer (higher than Win98). Computer harddrive can be a backup system or another external can be used for that. Another simple setting would be to connect a few computers with LAN switch and have the installation in one computer and the others could be both as backupdatabases and also Care2x could be run on them if the first should fail. Now we are running it in a Linux server in a clinic with 6-7 computers. If server goes down in this setting we can use the external backupharddrive to run Care2x as well until server is fixed. It could be plugged in any computer in the network and only the address should be changed. In small networks the speed would not be a big problem. We have kept simplicity in our mine also in our customization of the East African Care2x version. Keyboardinput is minimized because most are not comfortable with computers and are using it mainly with mouse to browse internet and CDroms. Selections in our system can be done using mouse in most of the places. Mauri Niemi -- Internal Virus Database is out-of-date. Checked by AVG Free Edition.
