your idea is very interesting, it would resolve a lot of problems that 
the code has.
unfortunately this integration cannot be done.
as an example the heavy use done by practically all the modules on the 
care_encounter table,
or care_patient, or the structure of care_type_encounter...

regarding the implementation of various other sw as sql-ledger or other 
billing feature in care2x,
it'll be a great idea. as it's a big lack in the package.

as i see it the only way to go is start a partial code rewriting, some 
sort of adaptation
on a framework. as or this i'm testing a proof of concept in rewriting 
the administration
using codeigniter. just to see if it's possible.
