Hi Mark,
Nice to hear from you!
SureFit isn't in Caret yet, but we haven't yet written off the
possibility that it could happen this year. (John Harwell has the
initial segmentation working in Caret, but I'm still working on porting
the automatic error correction.) We'll need to test it thoroughly, so
12/31/2004 is looking iffier for a polished, vetted Caret with SureFit
version. But not downright impossible for a alpha version.
SureFit still runs only on Linux, IRIX, and Solaris. I'm told Caret
runs splendidly on Windows -- very fast.
She should definitely start with Caret 5.

Hi Donna
Quick question: we have a new student about to start learning
surface-making. Is the newest caret 5.x that runs in windows able to
completely replace surefit/caret 4.x ? I haven't made the switch,
but it would be easiest if she would just start with the newest
version I imagine.
thanks!!
Mark
