Hi Donna, hi John,
The most current release for windows I could find in John's
download directory crashes when reconstructing surfaces from a
segmentation. I noticed that it's quite a bit older than the
current linux/mac versions - any chance of getting an updated
executable for Windows?
Thanks,
Johannes

Hi Johannes,
I have placed a new Windows version of Caret in "http://
brainmap.wustl.edu/pub/john/". You will need to use the username
"pub" and the password "download" to access the web site. Download
the file "caret5_exe_windows.zip". To install this latest version of
Caret, go into your Caret installation's "bin" directory. Rename
your existing caret5.exe. Place the downloaded file into the "bin"
directory and unzip it.
There have been some changes that appear to fix some of the problems
seen with segmentation on Windows.
This version of Caret5 also uses version 4 of Trolltech's QT user
interface software. Unfortunately, there is a serious bug in the QT4
software and, as a result, this version of Caret is unable to read
Caret data files in binary format. So, if you want to use this
version of Caret with any existing files, they will need to be
converted to text (ascii) format. This must be done from the command
line using the command "caret_file_convert -text *" from within
the directory containing the data files. In addition, select
Preferences from the FIle menu and set the file writing preference to
"Text (Ascii)". The upgrade to QT4 required many changes so there
are likely other problems with this version of Caret.
Good Luck.
