Dear David, Thank you for your reply regarding the left hemisphere deformation problem, i.e. all deformed .coord files looking "black" in appearance).
I did view the left hemisphere files (pre-deformation). The coord files are each correctly designated left hemi and show the correct lateral view when you click Toolbar L.
