Hi John,

Thank you so much for your suggestion.
Before receiving your message, I tested another possibility, installing caret onto another PC (at C:/caret) on which English version of Windows 2000 was running.
In fact, this time D/C worked without problems.
So my trouble may have been due to Japanese version of Windows 2000.

Your suggesion for getting a copy of new release is greatly appreciated and it would
be helpful on other occasions. Thanks again.

Karou

Hello,

I believe this problem has been fixed and we hope to have a new
release of Caret soon. In the meantime, go to the website "http://
brainmap.wustl.edu/pub/john/". Download the file
caret5_exe_windows.zip. When the file is unzipped, it will create
the file caret5.exe. Since you have caret installed in C:\Program
Files\caret, place caret5.exe into the directory C:\Program Files
\caret\bin. If caret is still very slow when the D/C button is
pressed, please let me know.

Dear colleagues,

I just started to learn caret with my PC (Windows 2000).

While going through CARET 5 QUICK START, my PC seems to freez at some point. When I tried the D/C button (following instructions on page 6), processing
speed became very very slow (about one minute per line for caret log
messages).
So I left it overnight and then came back. But I could not drag any of
caret windows and my mouse was not effective for any action. System beep
sound was generated in response to mouse clicking. There was no way to do,
so I had to turn off the PC by using the hardware switch.

I set the CARET_HOME at C:\Program Files\caret where I installed caret.
Any suggestions to sart up properly will be very much appreciated.

Kaoru
