Leon,
I'm not sure what the error message means, but I suspect it is not a
serious problem. John Harwell can chime in on Monday.
In the meantime, I'd like to make sure you're aware of several recent
changes we have incorporated into Caret that facilitate the entering
of stereotaxic data from tables in online journal articles or from
existing spreadsheet tables and the incorporation of several types of
useful metadata.
There are tutorials showing how to do this that are accessible via
the SumsDB database (http://sumsdb.wustl.edu/sums/
stereotaxictocaretfoci.do, or select Tutorials: Converting
Stereotaxic Coordinates to Caret Foci Files from the SumsDB home page
(http://sumsdb.wustl.edu/sums/)
To make best use of these options, be sure to get the recent Caret
5.51 software release (see appended June 7 Caret announcement).
Best regards,
David VE

Hi,
I am working on a meta-analysis foci map for a review. I Opened
PALS_B12.BOTH.TEMPLATE-Map_STEREOTAXIC-FOCI.73730.spec from
the /CARET_TUTORIAL_SEPT06/MAPPING_PROCEDURES/ folder, and hit
'Load Scenes' button. It looks like it is doing what it should, but
I noticed that in the feedback window running the background it
says "QEventDispatcherUNIX: :UnregisteredTimer: invalid argument".
(I am running Caret v5.5 on a Win XP SP2 OS). I noticed this
message also at another stage in my work, when I projected the
loaded foci to the PALS surface. It went through, loaded the
different atlases, mapped the 38 foci I had, and then issued the
same error. Again, the program seems to do what it was asked to.
I wonder what this error means and if I should be concerned.
Thanks,
Leon

Dear Colleague,
This email announces the release of Caret 5.51 software. You will
need both a user name and password to download the software. The
download page for Caret 5.51 is "http://brainmap.wustl.edu/pub/
caret/index.html". Use “Rabbit” for the user name and “Carrot”
for the password (both are case sensitive).
Caret 5.51 runs on these platforms: Macintosh OSX Tiger(10.4 or
higher), Microsoft Windows (2000 or XP), and Linux. The Caret
source code is also available if you would like to build Caret on
another operating system.
Highlights of some of the changes include:
* Many new caret_command options
* Neurolucida contour file importation
* Bias correction of volumes using AFNI's 3dUniformize algorithm
* Added reading of NIFTI volumes stored in a hdr/img pair of files
* Improvements in 3D border drawing
* New Study Metadata File and retrieval of study information
directly from PubMed
* Additional statistical operations for sulcal depth comparison
added to caret_command
* New Foci capabilities including pasting to surface, keywords,
and reading from comma separated value file
* Redesigned filtering for Identify Dialog
* Multi-threaded (parallel) cluster searching for statistical
algorithms
* Topologically correct surface generation - see warning when this
option is selected on SureFit Segmentation Dialog
* Control of volume visualization using stereotaxic coordinates as
opposed to slice viewing
A full list of changes is available at "http://brainmap.wustl.edu/
caret/caret5.51_help/misc/change_log.html".
