Convert the free surfer curvature file to a Caret surface shape
            file.
              caret_command  -file-convert -fsc2c lh.curv.asc 
lh.pial.asc shape.surface_shape -spec file.spec

Sulc is similar.  I don't think you need to convert the curvature or 
surface files to ASCII anymore, as the above usage suggests.
