The only thing I know similar is D/C: Surface Miscellaneous: Cartesian axis (deselect tick marks). And you can adjust the offset. But this isn't quite the same. Another thing you could try is to somehow create a functional volume that is all zeroes, except that all the nodes at slice X are 255 or some other positive value. Then map that volume to the surface. I'm posting to caret-users in case someone knows an easier way.
