This is for bigDecimals/bigInts: using this lib makes for example 
BigDecimal::toString() code 5 lines / 10 minutes instead of ... probably 
500 lines / 10 days :)
    

That was my point all the time ... why reinventing the wheel? :)
Hum... If you're talking about log4cxx, just ask Csaba about his adventure in here... (different compilers & compiler bugs issues)
=> the less external tools, the less external problems :)
just have to found the good balance between too-much deps and wheel-ing ;)
