this will be excellent to read for my research, nice to see john maeda featured. see his brilliant work here http://visualthinkmap.ning.com/photo/photo/show?id=2168552%3APhoto%3A83 hopefully it is availabel to loan as it is so recent. almost got through info vis: using vision to think. will do a longer review of it but so far it gives fantastic outline to the subject, info vis tends to be used in refernce to computer/interactive technology visualisations and most of the chapters cover this.
