If you need a MySQL database to store your coordinates in integer fields anyway, you should have a look at Virtual Spatial Data support in Mapserver (http://mapserver.gis.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?VirtualSpatialData).

Hello,

placing points on a map is a basic MapServer/CartoWeb feature. Objects from polygons/lines/points layers can be retrieved from shapes files or databases. However it is recommended to use a PostgreSQL/PostGIS database rather than a MySQL DB.
