too long as in too large ?
simply give an id or a class to the select <select name="edit_layer" ... in
the template edit.tpl and specify a width via css

Using the edit plugin is there a possibility to change the layer list
appearence?
Is the layer list is too long the main map shipfts to the center of the
page leaving a white square where the map used to be.
How can I make the layer list shorter in order to avoid this?
