I  added the CAS filter as described in 
http://www.ja-sig.org/wiki/display/CASUM/Demo to my application 
web.xml<http://www.ja-sig.org/wiki/display/CASUM/Demo%20to%20my%20application%20web.xml>
 (I am using intellij), the environment seems to recognize the class 
edu.yale.its.tp.cas.client.filter.CASFilter but when I am trying to run the 
application I get a java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: 
edu.yale.its.tp.cas.client.filter.CASFilter

Any thoughts you can share?

Not sure if posting stack trace on CAS wiki is the right thing to do  ?.

Anyways, the cause is that you have not created a valid certificate to identify 
your server machine.
Do that using steps described here.
