It's scary when you don't even recognize your own comments. In any case I wonder whether factoring out the role name to cas.properties is a good idea. The only reason we maintain a custom version of securityContext.xml is to override the role names which are dictated by group names that we pull using an LDAP provider. This change would certainly help us so we don't have to maintain a one-off XML context file.
