We're working on simplifying our group management between Confluence, Jira, SVN and the other applications that share a single group and user management system now that we've migrated to Contegix.

We're making use of a Confluence plugin that will allow projects to better manage their own set of administrators, users and other groups they may want to use. I've gone through and created space-managed groups to replace all of our existing groups and updated all of the Confluence space permissions to use these groups. Subversion authorization is also using these groups. The next step which I'm working on today is updating all of our Jira projects to use project roles for permissions and setup those roles using these new groups.

The current space-managed groups: https://wiki.jasig.org/display/JCH/Group+Management The current SVN authZ configuration: https://wiki.jasig.org/display/JCH/Subversion

If you run into any unexpected SVN, Confluence or Jira authorization issues please email the infrastructure list. I'm trying to do all the changes in a way that won't cause any disruption in service but there is always a chance that something breaks.

Once Jira, Bamboo & Fisheye are updated to use these new groups and everything has stabilized we'll be deleting most non-space managed groups. So if you are setting up permissions for something in any of these tools please try to use a group that is prefixed with a confluence space key. If you have any questions just email the infrastructure list and we'll help you figure it out.

Thank you,
-Eric
