I'm getting back to working on reviewing the JPA support in 3.5, and
there are some build problems of concern. I'm noting at least a
couple places where there are Java 6 features being used despite a
source level of 1.5 in the root pom:

 - TimeUnit.MINUTES/HOURS
 - javax.annotation package

There may be others but I stopped and decided to inquire about the
problem. I'm not aware of a decision to require 1.6 for 3.5, but I
think it's valid to discuss requirement of 1.6. Recall 1.5 went EOL
over a year ago, "J2SE 5.0 reached its End of Service Life (EOSL) on
November 3, 2009," and it's certainly in the best interest of the Java
community to encourage everyone to move on to a supported platform.
On the other hand I wonder how many CAS deployers are stuck on 1.5 for
one reason or another.

Should we require 1.6 for CAS 3.5? Should we poll the community
before making a decision?
