Folks,

As promised, I took at stab at cleaning up the CAS Roadmap with updates to
more accurately reflect our progress over the last year and the current
status. You'll recall that last year we had a re-focusing of the Roadmap
and planning process which resulted in all the great progress we've seen
including the 3.5 release.

If current consensus holds we would be targeting a major release candidate
(4.0 RC1) around Jan 2013 with:

* updates to the public AuthN APIs
* new skin and better support for mobile devices
* other evolutionary improvements that would have been targeted for
minor/patch releases (Jérôme, I think most of your items would likely fall
into this category)

That is, a release that mostly looks like it could have been 3.6, except
for the AuthN API changes.

One of the main outcomes of the Roadmap re-focusing was to distinguish
between to wish-list items from near-term work that has real commitment
from developers. I'd urge us to continue that approach as we work together
on the next release.

The DRAFT 4.0 Roadmap is here:
https://wiki.jasig.org/display/CAS/CAS+Roadmap
I'm hopeful we can more or less settle on scope by the August/September
timeframe. Please do add items for discussion that you are committed to
working on.

Best,
Bill
