Very interesting read, thanks for sharing. I think the relevant wisdom for us is to be very cautious in the protocols we choose to support in CAS and the extent of protocol support. I'm still hopeful we can support something like the "essential" SAML 2 protocol features, and I'd expect that the same approach is likewise feasible with OAuth. At the same time one could argue that the tide may be turning against massive protocol specifications in favor of smaller, lightweight, focused protocols.
