I transitioned our production CAS instance at TAMUCC to 4.2.2 just yesterday from our customized version of 3.5.2 that I built years ago. I had intended to move to 4.0.x, but found it too difficult to carry our modifications forward.
We deployed with the WSFederation option against our ADFS 3.0 instance and the feedback from the users has been very positive towards the unified logins. I started from scratch with the overlay templates and dropped our custom code for password management, theming, validate responses, ldap attribute modification, etc… There were only a few rough edges with deployment such as the missing repository for shibboleth that was mentioned earlier today on the list. Most issues I encountered were already documented on the list or issue tracker. I’ll add my 2 cents here – it was completely worth it. It’s obvious to me that a lot of love and attention has been put into the code over the last few years. I’m really looking forward to 5.0 I did find a few of our service providers have not kept up with good practices and we have had to hold a few hands to break them away from the custom attribute release that was put in place per Ellucian back in 2010 for Degreeworks and/or BEIS and move them forward to /samlValidate or /p3/serviceValidate, but at this point we have everything working with the stock configuration. This makes me very happy. I give a hearty ‘Well done!’ to the CAS developers and would encourage the user community to join us on the current version. -- Steve Fuller System Administrator II / Identity Guru Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi 361-825-2980 From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Dustin J Luck Sent: Thursday, July 14, 2016 2:27 PM To: Misagh Moayyed <[email protected]> Cc: CAS Community <[email protected]>; CAS Announce <[email protected]>; CAS Developers <[email protected]> Subject: [cas-user] Re: [cas-announce] CAS Community Survey Results At least we're not alone.
