Moving from CAS4 to CAS5 I am also re-implementing some of our custom functionality. I am looking for more information on how CAS modules are expected to be implemented by the community when using an overlay approach.
For example, I have built functionality into CAS4 similar to the “AUP” module for what we call “critical messages”. Essentially, we hijack the webflow AFTER authentication, and based off an LDAP attribute, trigger a webflow that alerts of critical messages before moving them to their service destination. In CAS4 this was fairly straightforward, modifying the login webflow & adding in custom classes, all done within our maven overlay. In CAS5, it does not appear to be as simple... The documentation over at: https://apereo.github.io/2016/10/07/webflow-extcfg/ speaks very well to modifying the webflow, but the added elements needed to make use of new webflow in a module (and keep it truly modular) do not seem to be addressed: For starters, I want to enable my module’s configuration properties... these seem to be buried deep within “cas-server-core-confiuration”. If I try to add these to my overlay, they aren’t built into libraries available to the custom modules. It seems to be a catch-22 of sorts. So now my overlay approach is not so useful as I have to re-compile cas-server-core-configuration with my mods for my module (yikes), then build my module separately, then make use of the module in the overlay.
