In a test environment, after upgrading CAS from 7.3.8.2 to 8.0.1.2 (WAR
overlay, JDK 25, Tomcat 11, external servlet container), registering a new
Google Authenticator device fails when the account registry is backed by
MongoDB (cas-server-support-gauth-mongo).
On registration, OneTimeTokenAccountSaveRegistrationAction throws:
ERROR

Can't find a codec for CodecCacheKey{clazz=class java.math.BigInteger,
types=null}
ProvidersCodecRegistry.java:lambda$get$0:86
ProvidersCodecRegistry.java:get:79
ChildCodecRegistry.java:get:68
This suggests the MongoDB driver bump that came with the 8.0 baseline no
longer registers a BigInteger codec that was previously available. This
worked fine on 7.3.8.2 with the same MongoDB backend and configuration.
Test environment:
- CAS [ 8.0.1 and also 8.0.1.2 ]
- JDK 25, Tomcat 11 (external)
- MFA: Google Authenticator, registry = MongoDB
(cas-server-support-gauth-mongo)
- Upgraded from 7.3.8.2 (where this worked)
Questions:
1. Is this a known regression in 8.0.x with the MongoDB driver ?
2. Is there a workaround ?
