That test depends on a successful search of the Rugters LDAP servers. As I mentioned previously, there are number of reasons that test could fail depending on your environment. A MUCH better test would be to create an ldap.properties file, based on ldap.properties.sample, for YOUR AD environment that would be expected to produce referrals. If that test fails, then one would expect the deployed Web application to fail similarly on referral handling.
