A friendly reminder about out of office messages (ironically, the original title of this message triggered it to be rejected because it thought it was an out of office message)

At the most it should reply to the individual and not to the list, though preferably not to anyone at all. It pollutes the mailing lists and inboxes as well as announces your presence on the list, which you may not have planned on doing. Also, unsolicited email has been shown to increase global warming(1).
