Bill had this to say in response to a recent comment I made about poor support for CAS on IIS now and for the foreseeable future, even in light of the .NET CAS client under development:
> Could expand, possibly on the mailing list, your research and with > IIS7 and managed code. I have have a personal goal to have great > support for CAS on IIS. I'm hopeful we can meet that goal, but it may be further out than I had initially imagined. Support for managed code ISAPI modules on IIS7 requires running in "Integrated Mode," http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/244/how-to-take-advantage-of-the-iis7-integrated-pipeline/, where all requests pass through the ASP.NET ISAPI filter. I did just enough reading on the subject to form an opinion that the integration is not as first-class as it could be. What reading I did do was prompted by comments and claims Cathy made while researching and developing the .NET CAS client. I hope she'll speak up and provide her first-hand experience with the limitations of .NET authentication modules in IIS. It's entirely possible she may not share my concerns.
