Our relatively basic CAS installation exhibited this issue on version
3.3.3 and we just upgraded to 3.3.5 in an attempt to resolve it to no
avail. If the user's first login attempt fails, then login page is
redrawn with the red error message above the login form as expected.
However, if valid credentials are then submitted from that page, CAS
simply refreshes the login screen (this time without the error message).
A valid third attempt will process as expected.
This feels like a simple Spring Webflow misconfiguration and the log
seems to verify that. On the second attempt I never see " <Executing
bind>" from inside AuthenticationViaFormAction. Here is what the second
attempt looks like:
.InitialFlowSetupAction] - <Action 'InitialFlowSetupAction' beginning
execution>
.InitialFlowSetupAction] - <Action 'InitialFlowSetupAction' completed
execution; result is 'success'>
.AuthenticationViaFormAction] - <Action 'AuthenticationViaFormAction'
beginning execution>
.AuthenticationViaFormAction] - <Executing setupForm>
.AuthenticationViaFormAction] - <Creating new form object with name
'credentials'>
.AuthenticationViaFormAction] - <Creating new instance of form object
class [class
org.jasig.cas.authentication.principal.UsernamePasswordCredentials]>
.AuthenticationViaFormAction] - <Putting form object of type [class
org.jasig.cas.authentication.principal.UsernamePasswordCredentials] in
scope Flow with name 'credentials'>
.AuthenticationViaFormAction] - <Creating new form errors for object
with name 'credentials'>
.AuthenticationViaFormAction] - <No property editor registrar set, no
custom editors to register>
.AuthenticationViaFormAction] - <Putting form errors instance in scope
Flash>
.AuthenticationViaFormAction] - <Action 'AuthenticationViaFormAction'
completed execution; result is 'success'>
.AuthenticationViaFormAction] - <Action 'AuthenticationViaFormAction'

.AuthenticationViaFormAction] - <Action 'AuthenticationViaFormAction'
completed execution; result is 'success'>

Has anyone else encountered this issue? Any thoughts on how it might
best be resolved?
