The error you are seeing in catalina.out would indicate that you are
somehow getting the wrong version of Spring LDAP library. Can you
confirm that your CAS war file contains
spring-ldap-core-1.3.0.RELEASE.jar,
spring-ldap-core-tiger-1.3.0.RELEASE.jar, and no other version?

I recently experienced duplicate Spring jar files (different versions)
when building CAS 3.3.5 using the overlay method. I never managed to
get to the root of that problem, and you may be seeing something similar.

Your deployerConfigContext.xml looks OK. I would recommend removing the
pooled=true property or explicitly define it as false. Recent
load-testing at a client's site showed that leaving it on caused a spike
in the number of threads in the process running CAS. No adverse results
were observed, but 1000+ threads is definitely abnormal. Setting
pooled=false cured the problem. We didn't take time to investigate the
reasons, but based on prior discussions a context that requires
authentication should not be pooled.
