It is very strange. I have opened up the WAR file and looked in the
JAR's that are generated and the MANIFEST.MF file is there with the
implementation version in it, I even added
<archive>
<manifest>
<addDefaultImplementationEntries>true</addDefaultImplementationEntries>
</manifest>
</archive>
to my overlay's POM to add a MANIFEST to the WAR as well but still no
go. I created an overlay of org.jasig.cas.CasVersion and change
getVersion() to just return the version as a string rather than try to
get it from the MANIFEST and that worked so the JSP can access that with
no problem it just seems like getImplementationVersion() can't find the
version.

why my Implementation Version always comes back null when called from
the login page via org.jasig.cas.CasVersion.getVersion(). I am on 3.3.5
and thought this was fixed a while back but it always comes back null.
