Well I was thinking more in terms of requesting a new service ticket from
the CAS server and validating that rather than holding on to a long lived
service ticket. I understand, and appreciate, the reason for short lived,
one time ST's and don't want to compromise that.

Basically we're trying to determine, from the service app, when the user's
authenticated session (as it relates to CAS enabled service apps) has
expired. Sounds like if we wanted to go down this path with CAS we'd need to
be make some mods ;-}
