Unfortunately, trying to get your desktop DAV client to respect the "302
Redirect" necessary for authentication isn't going to work. CAS is
ideal at the web tier, but not at the thick tier.

My general recommendation is to configure your CAS server and your
thick-client authentication to use the same backend.

In UConn's case, we use MIT Kerberos as our core authentication system.
The CAS server uses JAAS to authenticate against Kerberos. mod_auth_cas
is used to protect Apache resources at the web tier, mod_auth_kerb is
used to protect Apache resources at the thick-tier, such as DAV, batch
transfers (e.g., using cURL), and REST or other RPC/HTTP.

This model should apply across a variety of backends (LDAP, Active
Directory, etc) using the matching Apache modules.
